Mental Health First Aid® is a national not-for-profit organisation focused on mental health
training and research. Our core work is to develop Mental Health First Aid (MHFA™) courses,
and train Instructors to deliver these courses to communities or workplaces across Australia.
The Youth Mental Health First Aid course teaches you how to assist adolescents who may be experiencing a mental health problem or mental health crisis. You are trained to identify and assist with a crisis until appropriate professional help is received or the crisis resolves, using a practical, evidence based Action Plan.
This course is based on guidelines developed through the expert consensus of people with lived experience of mental health problems and professionals.
The Mental Health First Aid Conversations About Gambling course will teach you how to identify, approach and support someone who is experiencing gambling harm. We train you how to help by using a practical, evidence based Action Plan, which has been developed by people who work directly in this field. You will also have the opportunity to practise your new skills in a safe environment, so as you have the confidence to apply your new skill set in the real world confidently.
Peer Support is unique in that it offers support and practical help from people who share similar experiences.
At their core, Peer Support Workers are trained to professionally build trust, provide empathy and hope, share knowledge and information and raise awareness of mental health and mental illness in a workplace or shared environment.
